The Proto Shield was created to facilitate the design of special shields for your Arduino. With it, you can build custom circuits that fit perfectly on top of your Arduino board, adding fully customized features.

In it you have a spacious prototyping area that allows you the freedom to solder the necessary components for your project. This area has 5 tracks with 7 pads each so that you can distribute the same signal or power, making it easier to take 5V to various points in your project, for example. All Arduino pins have been provided in duplicate so you can have an extra pad for each one even if you solder the pin bars to fit your Arduino. The distinctive shape of the shield allows you to fit it on top of even a Arduino Shield - Ethernet W5500 which has a large network connector. The board still has space for an additional reset button, which makes it possible to have better access when resetting your Arduino when the shield is attached. just solder one Momentary Switch (PushButton)(NOT included). Boards like Arduino Leonardo, Zero and Due have the SPI communication pins only on the ICSP connector, the shield has a duplicated ICSP so you can use SPI even with these different boards.

Qual é a maneira ideal para fazer as conexões no centro da placa (nos furos que não são conectados por trilha nenhuma)?

Isso irá variar de projeto para projeto. Mas é bem normal a utilização de cabinhos flexíveis quando se precisa de isolamento elétrico ou pode-se utilizar terminais de resistores, leds ou outros componentes que são rígidos e mais fáceis usar.
